Flag Guesser
A daily flag guessing game that hides the flag behind panels — how few guesses can you use to name the country?
Flag Guesser is a free daily flag quiz where you must identify a country from its partially hidden flag. At the start the flag is completely obscured. Each wrong answer in this flag guessing game removes another panel from the grid, revealing a little more colour and detail — so the longer it takes you, the clearer the picture becomes. The challenge is to guess the flag as early as possible, before too much has been given away.
Like Globe Guesser, Flag Guesser runs on the daily-puzzle model: one new flag every day, shared by every player worldwide, with a shareable result you can post without spoiling the answer. Once you have finished the daily round, unlimited practice mode lets you run through as many additional flags as you like — perfect for serious flag enthusiasts who want to sharpen their knowledge beyond a single puzzle.
Regular play builds a genuine visual vocabulary for the world's flags — their colour combinations, emblems, and layouts — which is far harder to develop from rote memorisation alone. Whether you are a geography teacher, a trivia night regular, or simply someone who enjoys a daily brain teaser, this flag quiz rewards curiosity and pattern recognition in equal measure.
How to Play Flag Guesser
- When the page loads, the flag is fully hidden behind a grid of panels. Type the name of any country into the guess box — an autocomplete list helps you find the correct spelling — and submit your answer.
- If your guess is wrong, a brief 'Not [country]…' message appears and the next panel in the reveal sequence is removed, exposing more of the flag beneath.
- If your guess is correct, all remaining panels disappear at once to show the full flag, and you win. The game also ends if you exhaust all your guesses.
- After the round ends, whether you won or lost, the full flag is displayed alongside the country name and capital. Use the Share button to copy a spoiler-free emoji result and post it wherever you like.
- Select Easy, Normal, or Hard before you start — difficulty controls how many guesses you are allowed. A new daily flag appears at midnight; after finishing it, tap Play Unlimited to practice with more flags straight away.
Tips & Strategy
- Before guessing, pause and scan whatever panel edges are already visible — even a sliver of colour or a partial emblem can dramatically narrow the field before you commit a guess.
- Think in colour families first: a flag that is clearly tricolour in red, white, and blue still belongs to a large group, but adding a second detail like a central emblem or diagonal stripe cuts the candidates sharply.
- If you can see an emblem, coat of arms, or sun motif, focus on that rather than the overall colour scheme — distinctive symbols are unique to individual countries and are far more reliable identifiers.
- Do not guess countries with very similar flags back to back; instead, spread your guesses across different regions so each wrong answer reveals panels that help rule out an entire colour family or continent.
- In Hard mode, where guesses are limited, consider using your first answer as a deliberate probe on a distinctive flag you are confident about — a correct early guess wins instantly, and a wrong one still reveals a useful panel.
- Build a mental shortlist of 'confusable' flag pairs — such as Ireland and Ivory Coast, Chad and Romania, or Indonesia and Monaco — and learn the single detail that separates them, because those are the flags most likely to appear on a tough day.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you play Flag Guesser?
The flag starts completely hidden behind a grid of panels. Type your guess for the country name into the box and submit it — each wrong answer removes the next panel, revealing more of the flag. Guess correctly before you run out of attempts to win. An autocomplete list makes it easy to enter country names accurately.
Why does the flag look blank at the start?
The flag is fully obscured at the beginning of every round. Your first guess is what triggers the initial panel reveal, so there is no free information — you either know the flag well enough to attempt it cold, or you use your first guess to unlock the first clue. This is the core mechanic that makes the flag quiz genuinely challenging.
How many panels does the flag have, and in what order are they revealed?
The flag is divided into a fixed grid of panels that are uncovered one by one in a set reveal sequence. Each wrong guess uncovers the next panel in that sequence, so the flag becomes progressively easier to identify the more guesses you use. Winning early — before many panels are exposed — is the mark of a strong flag guesser.
How does difficulty work in Flag Guesser?
Difficulty controls how many total guesses you are allowed. Easy gives you the most guesses, Normal a moderate amount, and Hard the fewest — the panel reveal sequence and the flag itself are the same on all difficulties. Choose your difficulty before the round begins; it cannot be changed mid-game.
Is there a new flag puzzle every day?
Yes — a new country flag is selected each day and is the same for every player around the world. After completing the daily flag quiz you can switch to unlimited practice mode, which runs through additional flags one after another so you can keep testing your knowledge.
Is Flag Guesser free to play?
Yes, Flag Guesser is completely free. No account, sign-up, or download is required — it runs in any modern web browser on desktop or mobile. The daily puzzle and unlimited practice mode are both fully free.
